It’s Coming

It’s coming for us all as the normal course of life. 100% of us will die. The only question is what will the circumstances be. Will it be sudden and unexpected? In my dream last night it was the result of a criminal. The majority of us will die due to cardiovascular disease (most likely for me since I have it already) since it is the leading cause of death. However, the web says that in high income areas cancer is the leading cause. The bottom line is we are dying from the moment we are born.

Since no one will dispute that, then why doesn’t everyone prepare for death and eternity? One reason is that it is easier not to think about it, and if one does, the possibility of facing a Righteous Judge must be dealt with. If someone acknowledges he will face God and have to answer for his sin, that might even affect his current choices. Groan.

It is very sad when some turn to a religion instead of Jesus the Savior as presented in Scripture. One popular religion states in its catechism that if you claim to know you will spend eternity in Heaven, you are anathema (cursed). Scripture says otherwise. “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13). Oh what peace a person can have on his deathbed knowing he will be with his Savior in Heaven. Contrast that with a dying person, dealing with the pain of dying AND a mind screaming at him in fear of eternity in hell.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:8-10). Good works don’t save us, but God puts us to work after we are saved.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). We don’t suffer for our sins, Jesus did.
